Lent
4 Mark
8:22-25 Then
again he laid his hands upon his eyes After
Christ had laid his hands upon the blind man of Bethsaida, he was able
to see people, but they looked like trees walking. Not until Christ had
again laid hands upon his eyes, was he cured able to see everything
clearly. People
certainly do not look like trees. You would have to stand them on their
heads to achieve even a small resemblance. So the people the blind man
first saw were topsy-turvy. The world he saw was an upside down world.
Not until Christ had laid his hands upon his eyes a second time did he
see a man who looked like a man, a world returned to its right aspect. As
children of God, we need Jesus to lay his hands upon us a second time,
because we never see things clearly. We always tend to see upside down
images. O God have mercy upon us, lay your hands upon our eyes once
again, that we may see clearly the world which you made for what it is.
